Harvest Gives Blog

Harvest Gives 2018 was a chance for us to love one another through “Families Helping Families”. Read the following blog post to learn how a portion of the funds given have been used to come alongside individuals and families within our faith family.

A Culture of Generosity: Harvest Gives 2018 Update

Jesus says that the world will know we are His disciples by the way we love one another (John 13:35). At Harvest, we want to show the love of Jesus through generosity.

Why does generosity matter?

Generosity is an open-handed disposition of giving of ourselves. When we give of ourselves, God is glorified and our fellow brothers and sisters are encouraged as they see a glimpse of Jesus through our giving. Just as God provided for our greatest need through Jesus, we get to partner with Him by giving of our time, finances or skills and providing for specific needs which in turn, points people back to Jesus.

Thank you for your generosity!

By God’s grace, our people generously gave $57,000 of which $50,000 has been set aside to help people in need within our faith family. A team of eight individuals, including six volunteers from our Harvest family, is working to find specific ways to steward these funds well and foster an environment of generosity. To date, this team has distributed nearly $12,700 from the Harvest Gives fund and $7,600 from our compassion fund to total over $20,000.

Families Helping Families

Some of our brothers and sisters have simply needed encouragement during a season of trials. Some needed financial support to help pay bills during a job loss or medical crisis. A few were having a hard time putting food on the table. Our people in need ranged from widows and widowers, elderly to young couples, children to single parents. We came alongside these individuals and families to help them, bring encouragement and remind them of what we say at the end of every service, “you are loved.”

Because of the sensitive nature of these situations, we cannot share exact details, but we want to say thank you for your generosity.

To date, over $37,200 remains in the Harvest Gives 2018 Fund for the purpose of helping individuals and families within Harvest. We will continue to prayerfully consider and identify the physical, financial and spiritual needs within our faith family.
